Slo-Mo

Slo-Mo
I made my light painting photos by setting my camera up on a tripod, having the timer set to 4 seconds, and then I moved my phone light around in the mirror while the photo was being taken. I liked taking the photos, but I found it awkward going in the bathroom to take the picture and turning the lights off. The results paid off though, and I feel like light painting had my best results. In order to take my panning photos, I put on a timer for under a second and then moved the camera quickly along with the moving subject. I had to put on a dark filter in order to take photos outside, where it's very bright. I found it very hard and time consuming to get a couple good and clear panning photos. In order to take my blur photos, I set my timer for around 3 seconds. It was hard to get color because many of my blur photos were too dark or light.

  1. Your light painting is your strongest work. Keep up the good work. I especially like the first one!

  2. I really lived how creative your light paintings were. I also really enjoyed how blurred your backgrounds were during your panning images. All of the cars are super focused and really nice. Great Job!

  3. I liked the different colors and shapes you included in your light paintings. I think your panning could be a little stronger, but other than that great work!

  4. I really liked your abstract photos because of the way you brought out one specific color scheme. Your purple light painting is also really interesting because of the way you faded the color out on the right side. Keep up the good work!

  5. I like your second to last photo most, my only suggestion is to differentiate between the styles, because blur and panning kind of overlap.

  6. I thought your panning could have been a bit more clear, but your motion blur was very detailed and creative

  7. I liked the variety of cars you took in your set of images. I would have liked to see a couple images of people, because it seemed to look nice in other artist's pictures. I think you captured the main goal of this project. Amazing Job!

Draft 5

Draft 5 My project is based on of Uta Barth's photos. I did this by fully zooming in and going fully out of focus. By doing this, I was able to create simple shapes with simple colors. I wanted to mix colors and geometric shapes in a way to create a neat abstract image. I added the PicMonkey Film Grain filter to each of my photos in order to make my photos more simplistic. My themes are very simplistic and calming, and they make the viewer really think about the photo and try to interpret what the subject of the photo is. After my first day of taking photos, I learned that street lights are very good subjects for my photos, as they emit an unusual and prominent color. My photos changed since my Draft 4 photos by trying to have more simple shapes that have conflicting colors. I continued to try to create shapes in my photos so that the focus is not too drawn out into the corner by some bright light. I also read Casey's comments which suggested me to take these photos at night t...

My photos changed since my Draft 3 photos by having the impact of the grain filter on my photos be less. Composition 1- Triangle, Diagonal, and Rule of Thirds

Triangle Taking triangular photos requires taking pictures of landscapes or objects in which three distinct subjects, acting as the corners, form a triangular shape. I attempted to take triangular photos by finding objects that formed a triangular shape, or simply finding triangles in architecture. Diagonal A diagonal photo is a photo where there is essentially a line made by a subject, which goes diagonally through the photo, typically from one end to the other. I illustrated diagonal lines through hand railings, power lines, and the line separating an apartment building to the sky, shown in the last picture. Rule of Thirds A Rule of Thirds photo is one where there is one distinct subject on one side of the photo, horizontally or vertically, and when the photo grid cuts up the sections into thirds, the distinct subject should be exclusively in one of the columns or rows of the photo that is not in the middle. I illustrated the Rule of Thirds hor...
